Mansfield, Pa. – A Preseason Skills Clinic will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1 with a variety of sessions throughout the day for players age 8 and up at Mansfield University.
The beginner pitching session starts the day off, going from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. with coaching tailored to individual player's needs. Beginning pitchers will learn basic pitching fundamentals and mechanics. This session is meant for players wanting to learn pitching or are new to pitching and want to learn the basics of a fastball. All pitchers must bring their own catcher, or request a catcher in advance for $10 extra. Spots are limited in the Pitching Session, so be sure to sign up in advance.
The first skills session follows from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Participants from the ages of 8-12 will learn fielding, throwing, hitting, baserunning, and bunting.
Time will also be spent learning the fundamentals of the sport. This session is meant for the beginner to intermediate level player.
The final session is for players ages 13 and up and will run from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Hitters will learn hitting fundamentals and drills to improve their swing. Participants will learn fielding techniques for all positions including catching. Throwing, fielding, footwork, and positional skill work will be covered.
Registration will be held in Decker Gymnasium, but players must be signed up prior to February 1. The Pitching Session costs $20 per player and the skills session costs $25 per player.
