The LHU women’s basketball team used a balanced scoring approach which included a game-high 22 points from Rileigh Devine and the Bald Eagles downed Penn State Altoona, 94-66 on the road.
ALTOONA, Pa. – Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) netted a game-high 22 points to lead a balanced scoring approach which powered the Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (4-1) to its third straight win. Devine was one of four players in double-figures scoring as the Bald Eagles downed host Penn State Altoona (1-2), 94-66.
In all, 10 different players scored for Lock Haven who improved to 4-1 on the season. The 94 points marked the most scored by the Bald Eagles in a win since a 93-57 win over Notre Dame College nearly six years ago to the day (Nov. 28, 2012).
Devine knocked down five 3-pointers on the way to her 22 points. Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) netted 14 points, Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) scored 12 and Jordyn Kloster (Manchester, Pa./Millersville) added 13 points off the bench. Kloster was solid throughout and finished with five rebounds as well.
Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) and Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) rounded out a strong scoring night from LHU’s starting-five. Redman added eight points and Leidy scored seven. Redman grabbed nine rebounds to pace Lock Haven in that category and Leidy has another versatile stat line, finishing with five assists and three rebounds of her own.
The Bald Eagles moved the ball extremely well tonight on offense and finished with a total of 21 assists.
Lock Haven will return home to host Clarion on Saturday, December 1 at 1 p.m. in the Bald Eagles 2018-19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener. It will mark the first of back-to-back home PSAC contests as LHU will also host Mercyhurst on Sunday (Dec. 2) at 1 p.m.
