Potter County, Pa. -- On July 23, Pennsylvania reported its first probable human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) infection in 2020. The case was detected in a Potter County resident. Samples are being sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmatory testing.

Update: The owner of a pet rescue in Potter County said she called police after someone brought in a stray dog "in terrible shape." The incident is being investigated as suspected animal cruelty, according to state police.
