WILLIAMSPORT - Robert H. “Bob” Murphy, 82, of Williamsport, died peacefully at home on June 22, 2019.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dorothy M. (Weaver) Murphy.
Born September 14, 1936, in Allenwood, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Kathryn (Shriner) Murphy.
Bob was a graduate of Williamsport High School. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bob began and ended his working career at Alcan Cable as a truck driver, then as a strander. He attended Lycoming Presbyterian Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 617. Bob’s passion was collecting and completing puzzles.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Jeffrey Murphy (Sabrina) of Rocklin, CA and Steven Murphy (Jen) of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Deborah Murphy (Robert) of Dallas and Susan Murphy-Lawrie (Christophe) of Pine, CO; a step-son, Jacob Keller (Sue) of Shenandoah; six grandchildren, Noal, Daniel, Chandra, Iain, Joshua and Tyler (Ashleigh); a brother, Paul A. Murphy of Springfield MO; and a beloved dog, Muffin.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond.
A funeral service to honor Bob's life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
A viewing will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Sanders.
Flowers will be provided by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
