LAPORTE - Myra E. Arena, 82, a resident of Rotonda West, Fl. and Laporte, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, in the Wolf Run Village at Hughesville.
Born Monday, Aug. 2, 1937, at Williamsport, Lycoming County, she was the only child of W. Leon and Martha Holdren Collins. She was the widow of Victor E. Arena who preceded her in death in 2013.
Myra was a graduate of Williamsport High School and the Williamsport School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse, retiring from Divine Providence Hospital at Williamsport where she helped to establish the first cardiac intensive care unit.
After retirement, she and Victor resided in Florida, spending the summer months at their cottage at Lake Mokoma. Myra was an active volunteer and past president of the Englewood Public Library and member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Rotonda West; and, also a founding member of the Mokoma Conservancy in Laporte and member of the Eagles Mere Presbyterian Church. She loved attending concert series when in residence in Florida and Pennsylvania.
Myra was the last of her immediate family. Her only survivors are several cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service at 11 a.m. Oct. 5, 2019, in the Picture Rocks Cemetery.
