DUSHORE - Melvia D. Stoothoff, 89, of Dushore, died Saturday, June 1, 2019 at her home.

Born March 1, 1930 in New Albany, she was a daughter of the late Floyd D. and Neva U. (Bailey) Eberlin. Her husband of 44 years, John W. Stoothoff, preceded her in death on July 2, 2005. 

Melvia was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and caring for those in need. She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wilmot.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen A. Silverstrim of Dushore, Pamela J. Wilmarth of Dushore, and Stacey M. (Robert) Matheny of Mason, TN; two sons, Brian J. (Gina) Stoothoff of New Albany, and Mark A. Stoothoff of Richmond, VA; a sister, Marion Voda of Laceyville; a brother, Zade Q. (Delores) Eberlin of New Albany; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Melvia was preceded in death by two sons, William Z. Baker and Eric T. Stoothoff; three brothers; and two sisters. 

In keeping with Melvia’s wishes, funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Dushore.
