Max Kenneth Pauling

ELIMSPORT - Max Kenneth Pauling, Sr., 90, a resident of Elimsport, went home with his Savior on Thursday, July 4, 2019, in the Susquehanna Health Nursing and Rehab Center at Muncy Valley Hospital.

Born Saturday, April 27, 1929 in Washington Twp., Lycoming County, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Martha (Bower) Pauling. Max was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn E. (Small) Pauling on December 7, 2018. Her death broke a marital union of over 69 years.

He was a 1948 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School. Max retired from Bethlehem Steel at Williamsport and had previously been employed by Cromar Wood Flooring where he met his wife. He was a lifelong farmer.

Max was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elimsport. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America. Max coached Elimsport Little League for 13 years and had also served as an umpire. He enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting.

He is survived by eight children, Daniel (Wana) Pauling of Shrewsberry, Helen (James) Luckenbill of Liberty, Joseph (Ginger) Pauling of Allenwood, Allan and (Marcia) Pauling of Allenwood, Dean (Kim) Pauling of Lewisburg, Charles and (Kathy) Pauling of Allenwood, Mary Lou (Kevin) Race of Cadis,and  Steve Pauling of Allenwood. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Max was preceded in death by two children, Max K. (Joni) Pauling, Jr; Debra (Joe) Campbell; two grandchildren, Danielle Pauling and Laura Race; four brothers, John H. Pauling, Harry L. Pauling, Ned B. Pauling, Robert M. Pauling; and three sisters, Ella Pauling, Lucy P. Sones and Ruth Price.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Elimsport, 16838 State Route 44, Allenwood, PA 17810, with D. Todd Baker, his pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church between 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Elimsport Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Elimsport.
