LOCK HAVEN - Elwood C. “Skip” Hocker Jr., 72, of 26 Irish Lane, Lock Haven, passed away at the Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport, on June 18, 2019. He was born in Lancaster County on August 1, 1946 to Elwood C. and Anna Mary Zieger Hocker Sr.

Skip was a graduate of the Lampeter-Strasburg High School and Franklin & Marshall College. He served in Vietnam with the U. S. Navy. Skip retired from the Lock Haven Police Department as Chief of police and had also served as a detective of Lancaster City Police as well as chief of West Hempfield Township. Skip was a member of the Manheim Masonic Lodge #587 and Lock Haven Lafayette Lodge # 199. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Skip was united in marriage June 10, 1984, to Tina M. Elliott, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Jack (Ruth) Hocker of Lancaster; a daughter, Shannon Will of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Julie Newcomer of Columbia; and five grandchildren, Madison Will, Teddy Will, Adam Will, Taylor (Austin) Hare, and Zachary Hocker.

Memorial services with full military honors for Elwood C. Skip Hocker, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Rev. Laura King of the Caldwell United Methodist Church. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Skip’s name to the Caldwell United Methodist Church 11376 Coudersport Pike, Lock Haven, PA. 17745 Arrangements are under the direction of the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC.
