Elton D. Rupert Sr., 78, of Hughesville, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. He was the husband of the late Mary E. Kulp Rupert, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1941, in Pennsdale and was the son of the late Peter C. and Pauline C. Egli Rupert.
Elton was a lifelong farmer. He also worked at Brodart for more than 30 years and retired in 2003. Elton was an avid hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and in his spare time enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and classic John Wayne movies.
Elton is survived by: two daughters, Carol A.(Terry) Hoover of Hughesville and Lisa C. (Larry) Rupert of Hughesville; two sons, Elton D. (Robin) Rupert Jr. of Hughesville and Michael J. (Elizabeth) Rupert of Midland, Mich.; a sister, Shirley Gordner of Hughesville; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife Mary, Elton was predeceased by a brother Roger C. Rupert and by a grandson Justin D. Hoover in 2016.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville with the Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hughesville.
