MONTOMGERY -- Two women sustained serious injuries after a garbage truck struck their vehicle Thursday afternoon on Route 405 near the intersection with Brouse Road in Clinton Township, Lycoming County.
Pennsylvania State Police in Montoursville said Alyssa M. Holmes, 29, of Watsontown, and Kerry B. Bauer, 20, of Williamsport, were transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment. Two children, ages 9 and 7, were transported to UPMC Williamsport for treatment of suspected minor injuries. Both children were in booster seats, police said.
Holmes and Bauer were in critical condition as of Friday afternoon, according to a nursing supervisor at Geisinger.
The accident occurred at 4:06 p.m. May 23, 2019 when a garbage truck traveling east on Route 405 went around a right curve, crossed the center line and hit the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Holmes. The operator of the garbage truck, Tyler M. Comstock, 33, of Watsontown, was not injured.
Montgomery Fire Company assisted at the scene.
