MILTON -- A Sunbury man who was wanted by police for an alleged assault on two women Sunday in Snyder County is now in custody.

Christopher Hare, 40, was apprehended Thursday, according to Trooper Richard Blair of Pennsylvania State Police in Milton.

Hare fled on Sunday, May 12, 2019 after state police in Selinsgrove responded to an alleged assault on Park Road in Monroe Township, Snyder County. He allegedly entered the home and strangled a woman. A short time later, Hare returned to the residence and punched another woman in the face with a closed fist, according to police.

Hare fled the scene before troopers arrived, police said. Both women were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Hare was charged with several counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, strangulation, burglary and other related charges. He was arraigned Thursday at the office of District Magistrate John H. Reed in Selinsgrove and was remanded to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $125,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for May 28, 2019.
