The incredible summer for the South Williamsport major girls softball team came to a heartbreaking end, as they found themselves on the wrong end of a classic 2-0 pitchers duel.

South's Alizabeth Schuler matched Oregon's starter Bridgette Boling pitch-for-pitch in a match-up worthy of a national TV audience. Schuler gave up only five hits and two runs (one earned), but fell 2-0 in the first game of the elimination round.

After playing the late game Sunday night, South Williamsport had the early game Monday. The quick turnaround, and the dominance of Boling was a combination they couldn't overcome.

Lynna Clark had two hits, while Alizabeth Schuler and Gianna Goodman each singled for South, who managed only four hits and struck out ten times against the lefty hurler.
