Jim Blankenship, an Information Technology (IT) Generalist in the IT Unit of PennDOT's District 3, has been named 2019's Employee of the Year. Jim is responsible for a wide range of technical support and services in the district and county offices, providing software support, construction field office setup/tear-down, and network troubleshooting.
Jim’s skills and expertise in IT are highly valued. He consistently maintains a professional attitude and responds quickly whenever there is a technical issue that needs his attention.
A district employee reported that Jim was even available during the evening by phone to troubleshoot an issue with equipment the employee was using during a public meeting. Jim’s help outside normal work hours allowed the presentation to proceed on time.
Jim is patient and approachable, has a great work ethic, and is very knowledgeable about technology. He is always willing to assist anyone with a question or problem. He is pleasant, has a great sense of humor, and is easy to work with. He has an excellent relationship with district and county employees and is dedicated to making sure they have the IT support they need to do their jobs efficiently.
Jim, a seven-year PennDOT employee, lives in South Williamsport with his wife Susan Guinter, son Mark, step-son Trevor Effen, and step-daughter Devan Guinter.
