Montoursville, PA, February 19, 2020 – The Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority is pleased to announce that American Airline’s service to the Williamsport Regional Airport (IPT) will be changing from its long-time hub in Philadelphia to the airline’s hub at Charlotte, NC beginning August 18, 2020. The new hub will continue to deliver seamless access to American’s global network and provides more single connection destinations to regional travelers than ever before.
The change was a result of analysis of the destinations the travelers in the market use and the airline’s commitment to providing quality service to the market. In addition to the hub change the airline will be upgrading the aircraft flown to IPT from the current 50 seat Embraer aircraft to its dual-class 65-seat Canadair CRJ-700 aircraft.
“The Authority and I are very pleased to see this change and commitment on the part of our airline partner, American Airlines,” said Airport Executive Director, Richard Howell. “We believe the new connecting hub and upgraded aircraft will offer our community more comfort and travel flexibility that ever before. Having a business class cabin is a service first for our community.”
Customers may begin booking flights February 29, 2020.
