The 21st Annual 2019 Albright Care Services Golf Challenge was a huge success, raising more than $146,000 for benevolent care which supports residents who have outlived their financial resources by providing for essential needs. That’s an increase of nearly $15,000 over last year’s total.

Clubs were swinging on Monday, June 3, 2019, at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg. Proceeds raised are used to provide benevolent care for residents at RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg, Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community in York, and participants at Albright LIFE in Williamsport, Lancaster, and Lebanon.

Staff, board members, campus residents, United Methodist pastors, and community members raised money as a participant in the challenge, an event which has welcomed over 280 unique fundraiser golfers over the years.

In addition, 42 businesses and organizations sponsored the event at a variety of levels, contributing more than half of the total raised. Total dollars raised stands at $146,553 as of June 11. Since it began in 1999, the Golf Challenge has raised more than $1.8 million.

A banquet in the clubhouse followed a full day of golf, where several golfers were honored with milestone fundraising plaques for their dedication to the Golf Challenge over the years. They included Stephen Foust, who has raised $100,000, Bob Kuhn and Rev. Keith Schmuck, who have each raised $25,000, and Carl Schlappi, Pastor Bill Gibson, Fred Harris, Ray Bower, Chris Brown, Rev. Al Horst and Albright Care Services President & CEO Shaun Smith, who have each raised $10,000.
