Sunday, May 26 and Thursday July 4 are Fish-for-Free Days in the state of Pennsylvania. Residents and non-residents are allowed to legally fish on Pennsylvania waterways on these days with no fishing license required.

Fish-for-Free days are great ways for families to "catch" the fun of fishing!

Fish Tackle Loaner Program

Want to head out to a stream, river or lake to cast, but don't have any fishing gear? The Fishing Tackle Loaner Program is a way for the public to borrow rods, reels and a tackle box full of hooks and other tackle. Just like checking out a library book, the equipment is available to borrow by filling out a form. At the end of the loan period, the equipment is returned to the site.

This program is a partnership between the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the American Sportfishing Association, and additional sponsors.
The program is designed to make it easy for anyone to access fishing tackle. Whether you are giving fishing a try for the first time, or returning to a childhood activity, these sites provide free tackle for loan. This equipment may also be loaned to groups conducting angler education programs in the community.
Visit the PA Fish and Boat Commission for all other fishing regulations that still apply on Fish-for-Free Day.
