A trio of alleged trespassers are behind bars after police say they entered a residence through a basement window.
Williamsport Bureau of Police officers responded to a report of a burglary at 1241 Park Avenue on March 20, around 4:40 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, Officers Bonnell and Caschera said they saw three individuals exiting the building's east side door and running south.
The officers gave chase, yelling, "stop," according to the affidavit. The trio stopped running just before reaching Freed Place, Bonnell wrote.
The individuals are incarcerated at the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 monetary bail each:
- John R. Wainwright, 23, of Hamilton NJ
- Ballie A. Confair, 18, of Williamsport
- Chanel A. Lopez, 20, of Williamsport
All three face one third degree felony count of criminal trespassing and one summary count of criminal mischief.
"A witness later told police he observed someone...matching Lopez's description holding the screen to the window and entering the basement through the window," Bonnell wrote.
The basement window on the west side of the house was missing when police arrived on the scene, according to the affidavit.
The building owner reportedly confirmed that the basement window was not broken prior to that date.
"Wainwright, while being handcuffed, stated, 'We were just exploring sir we did not take anything,'" Bonnell wrote.
