A Muncy family was arrested for allegedly stealing over $1,000 in merchandise from Weis Markets, according to police.
Michael R. Meyer, 40, Donna D. Meyer, 57, Vanessa M. Meyer, 41, and Melissa A. Genay, 30, were observed on surveillance video failing to scan items at a self-checkout, according to Montoursville State Police Trooper William A. Reynolds.
The total value of items taken from the Weis Markets at 1272 East Penn Street, Muncy, was $1,457.23, according to Reynolds' affidavit.
The items were stolen between July and October 2019, police reported.
Vanessa, Donna and Michael Meyer were each charged with one third degree felony count each of retail theft - take merchandise and conspiracy - retail theft - take merchandise, according to court documents.
Donna pleaded guilty to third degree felony retail theft on November 18, 2019, and was sentenced to two years probation, $1,457.23 restitution, and online theft classes. The conspiracy charge was dismissed.
Vanessa spent six days in county jail unable to post $5,000 monetary bail. She was released on November 25, 2019. She is scheduled for a formal arraignment before Common Pleas Judge Marc F. Lovecchio on December 23, 2019.
Michael's bail was set at $10,000 unsecured on December 9, 2019. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on December 20, 2019, before District Judge Kemp.
Genay was charged with second degree misdemeanor conspiracy - retail theft - take merchandise, court records stated.
