 WILLIAMSPORT — Students from across the district honored Williamsport Area School Board members tonight in a ceremony held in observance of January's School Board Recognition Month. 

  In WASD tradition, the 17 students, selected based on their good standing in their schools, presented each board member with a brand-new book for them to read before returning it for installation in each of the students' respective school libraries.

  The following is a list of students by building who presented books to board members:

  Cochran Primary School

Last week's ceremony came on the heels of a month annually reserved to recognized school board members, as it was rescheduled due to inclement weather.  According to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA), “In January, we pause to salute a group of nine people who spend dozens of hours each month voluntarily leading our schools and making difficult decisions – they are the school directors.”
