Dr. Navitha Ramesh has been appointed as the new medical director for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at UPMC Williamsport. In this position, she will be in charge of providing leadership to the ICU by offering guidance and helping to develop comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality treatment plans.

Dr. Ramesh received her medical degree from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in India, and completed her residency training at Rochester Regional Health Unity Hospital, Greece, N.Y., and her fellowship training at Mount Sinai Health System, New York, N.Y. Dr. Ramesh is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine and she holds a testamur status in advanced critical care echocardiography with National Board of Echocardiography.

“Critical care medicine encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of clinical problems and we often see patients when they are in their sickest state,” said Dr. Ramesh. “Critically ill patients require intensive care provided through an expertly coordinated approach. As medical director, it’s my job to make sure that we develop comprehensive treatment plans focused on compassionate, quality, and patient-centered care.”
