Most summer days you’ll find a mix of speed boats and kayaks, fishing boats and canoes puttering and paddling along the river, but Labor Day weekend cranks up the energy on the West Branch of the Suquehanna in Lock Haven.

It’s time for the 49th annual Jaycees Boat Regatta and Festival in Lock Haven, a river festival featuring outboard motorboat APBA boat racing, a street carnival with amusement rides, food, arts and crafts fair, vendors, fireworks, live bands, and more.

Watch the largest nationally sanctioned power boat races in the United States on the river Saturday through Monday as the cruise at speeds up to 60 mph. According to APBA.com, the boats are stock outboard runabouts and hydroplanes, built with lightweight marine plywood and mahogany, carbon fiber, or fiberglass. The boats slice through the water and prove challenging to handle, but exciting to watch.

In addition to boat racing, a midway festival and and craft vendors will be set up along Water Street all weekend. A full line-up of live music is set to entertain crowds daily from the Jaycee Stage at the corner of Jay and Water Streets.
