COGAN STATION -- Fairlawn Community Church is collecting items to donate to hurricane victims in Florida. The items will be sent with a hurricane relief team who will be going to Southern Florida from September 30 to October 7 to assist in clean up efforts.
The exact destination will be determined over the next week as the needs throughout the southern region of Florida and the Keys are being assessed. The team is coordinating with a mission organization, Envision Miami (a Christian and Missionary Alliance mission organization).
Through the generosity of local businesses, Sid’s Trucking and Bimbo Bakeries, the team will be taking a tractor trailer load of supplies.
The church is currently collecting items to bring in the truck. Needed items include:
Cleaning supplies –
Household items -
Pet Supplies –
Dog and Cat Food
Treats & toys
Personal Hygiene –
Items can be dropped off at the front door of the church at 353 Pleasant Hill Road in Cogan Station, or at the northern end of the Schon’s Hardware building at 4072 Lycoming Creek Road. Schon’s has generously given us the northern end of their building to gather and sort donations.
People can also contact Tim Bechtol directly at 570-220-9711 to either meet them or pick up donations. Any items that are donated on pallets (i.e. pallets of bottled water) can be delivered to Schon’s before 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and they will unload and place them directly in the trailer with their forklift.
