Marjorie Maddox Hafer - LHU professor wins Foley Award poetry 2019

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  — America Magazine has awarded its 2019 Foley Poetry Prize to Lock Haven University English professor, Marjorie Maddox Hafer, for her poem, “Arise.” The award carries a cash prize of $1,000. The winning poem, which responds to the July 2018 Thailand cave rescue, will appear in the June 25, 2019 issue of America Magazine.

Maddox Hafer is the author of 11 collections of poetry, a short story collection, several children’s books, is the co-editor of Common Wealth: Contemporary Poets on Pennsylvania, the assistant editor of Presence and has published more than 550 stories, essays and poems in journals and anthologies.
