Williamsport – The Ruby Tuesday restaurant at 1940 E. Third Street has permanently closed as of Friday, March 27, 2020.
A Google search of the restaurant also indicated the location is closed and the corporate website no longer lists Williamsport as a location. NorthcentralPa.com attempted to call the restaurant’s phone number, but it was disconnected.
Reports indicate that Ruby Tuesday has closed other locations since the COVID-19 crisis began. Several locations in Maine closed last week, according to the Lewiston Sun Journal. The restaurant chain also closed locations in Virginia, Missouri, South Carolina and North Dakota, among others, according to reports. It is unclear how many restaurant locations were recently closed.
Ruby Tuesday, which was founded in 1972, closed 18 locations in 2019, according to Yahoo Finance. Sales at the casual dining chain had been decreasing, according to www.restaurantbusiness.com. As of September 2019, Ruby Tuesday had close to 460 locations left, compared to 950 locations at the start of the decade. Ruby Tuesday closed 18 locations in 2019, according to Yahoo Finance. The Williamsport location opened on July 22, 2002.
