Since March 1, generous customers have been making donations at Jersey Mike's Subs throughout the country to support local charities during the 10th annual Month of Giving.
Wednesday, March 25 was advertised earlier as a "Day of Giving," during which 100% of donations would go to the Lycoming County United Way. According to the Williamsport store, Jersey Mike's is not participating in the day of giving, as to not encourage a flood of patrons to the store during this time of social distancing.
Jersey Mike's is still open for takeout, however; and they're still donating a percentage of proceeds from the month's sales to the Lycoming County United Way.
The Lycoming County United Way says that contributions from Jersey Mike's support the 38 different programs that United Way hosts in Lycoming, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties.
“We are grateful for the partnership we have developed with Matt and Kristie Patterson and the local Jersey Mike’s store,” said Ron Frick, Lycoming County United Way President.
Frick commented that “the folks at the Williamsport location have been incredibly generous since the store opened in August 2017 and have donated over $12,000 to date. We hope the community will support their efforts, not just this month, but in the months and years to come.”
Last year, the nationwide Jersey Mike's Month of Giving raised over $7.3 million for local charities and nearly $4,000 in Lycoming County. An incredible $4.6 million of that total was raised solely on the Day of Giving.
Since 2010, Jersey Mike's has raised over $27 million for local charitable organizations and distributed at least 1.5 million free sub sandwiches to various causes.
