Montoursville – Mike Manzitti is PennDOT District 3 Employee of the Month for August of 2019.
Mike is a highway drafter working in the Design Unit. He performs a wide range of drafting, design work, and plan preparation related to highway construction.
After spending much of his PennDOT career in the Maintenance Unit, Mike accepted a position in the Design Unit. He proved to be a quick learner with a “can-do” attitude, which enabled him to work well with the experienced engineers and designers in his unit. They immediately recognized that Mike was a team player who would do whatever it took to get the job done and do it well.
Mike’s ability to perform at a high level was evident during last year’s flooding. He did an exemplary job while working under stressful and challenging conditions. He was actively engaged in reviewing and documenting work needed to reopen damaged roads, and prepared emergency roadway construction plans needed to complete that work. His cheerful personality was infectious and helped alleviate tension within the unit during that time.
Mike continues to work on challenging projects including right-of-way plans, complex traffic control plans,and roadway reconstructions.
He has a positive attitude and a unique and enthusiastic sense of humor. He is friendly, approachable, and kind to everyone he meets. His interaction with co-workers is uplifting and increases overall morale. His supervisor gives him high marks for his dedication and desire. He is an asset to the department.
Mike, a 16-year PennDOT employee, lives in Linden with his wife Susan and son Nicholas.
