Williamsport -- Multiple sources in the media and broadcasting industry are reporting the recent sale of Backyard Broadcasting PA LLC, a seven-station cluster in north central Pennsylvania.

Owner Daniel Farr has reportedly brokered a deal through Kalil & Co, Inc. to sell Backyard Broadcasting to Van Michael’s Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania for $5.9 million.

Farr, who served as Vice President and General Manager prior to purchasing the group, paid $5.5 million in August 2013. He has reportedly signed a three year non-compete in terms of owning stations in the Williamsport market as well as a consulting agreement with the new ownership.

The stations involved in the deal include 105.1 WILQ and 1050 WLYC, which radioinsight.com reports was previously owned by Van Michael in the mid-1990s. Other stations in the deal are hot AC “My 107.9” WLMY, rock WZXR/WCXR (99.3/103.7), classic hits WBZD-FM 93.4, and sports “ESPN Radio 1340” WWPA.

According to Inside Radio, Williamsport PA-licensed FM translator W203BF at 101.3, which simulcasts WWPA, is also included in the deal.

Radio Insight reports that Van Michael's Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania, LLC, is a Pennsylvania-based company and that it has no other broadcast interests.
