Pennsdale, Pa. – Another store at Lycoming Mall near Muncy is closing its doors. The Children’s Place is closing, according to a store associate who said the projected last day is September 17, 2019.
The New Jersey-based retailer announced earlier this year it would close 40 to 45 stores in 2019.In March, the retailer purchased the rights to children’s clothing stores Gymboree and Crazy 8 for $75 million, according to the International Business Times. As a result of the Gymboree bankruptcy, the company plans to open 25 stores in highly productive areas within the next two years. These stores will be opened in areas where Children’s Place does not currently have a presence
The Children’s Place store at Lycoming Mall opened in 2010. The Lycoming Mall has lost several stores in recent years. Anchor stores Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Bon-Ton and Sears have left since 2017. A few smaller stores, such as f.y.e., closed in the past year.
The next closest Children's Place store is at Susquehanna Valley Mall near Selinsgrove.
