Irene Caroline Eiswerth, 86, of Muncy died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Wolf Run Village, Hughesville. Her husband of 58 years, Herman L. Eiswerth died November 27, 2008.
Born February 3, 1931, Oval, Nippenose Valley, she is the daughter of the late Howard C. and Anna L. (Kimick) Eck. She was a 1948 graduate of Muncy High School and was the first secretary for the original Young Machinery, Muncy.
Irene married her childhood sweetheart, Herman, in 1950 and they worked closely in business ventures into retirement. They were founding members of Silver Star Christmas Tree Farms, later opening Herman Eiswerth Garden Center with a plant nursery, greenhouse, and Christmas trees. She enjoyed social clubs, card playing, board games, and gardening, but mostly being with her family.
Surviving is a daughter, Janice C. (Charles) Brain of Mechanicsburg; two sons, Gregory H. (Melanie) Eiswerth of Muncy, Jay H. Eiswerth of Muncy; a daughter-in-law, Kristi Eiswerth of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Ethan (Vanessa) Eiswerth, Trevor Eiswerth, Jennifer (Zebulun) Geedey, Tara (Bill) Rogers, Drew Eiswerth; five great grandchildren, Mari and Calise Eiswerth, Benjamin and Matthew Geedey, Logan Drew Rogers; two sisters, Helen (Schon) Hibschman of Williamsport, Mary Lambert of Wyomissing.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Mark Eiswerth; a sister, Ruth Eck; and two brothers, James and Robert Eck.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
