Raymond A. Mix, 73, of Quiggleville, died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at home.
Born October 13, 1939, he was a son of the late Chester and Christine (Foster) Mix. He married Joyce E. Cook and would have celebrated 45 years together on August 10.
Ray graduated from Canton High School in 1957. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He attended Williamsport Area Community College and Lycoming College where he had taken accounting classes. He graduated from Williamsport School of Commerce now Newport Business Institute. Ray retired as a comptroller from Eck Realty Company after many years, and he was owner of Mily Equipment Inc.
Ray was an active member of the Lycoming Center Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder, Trustee, and on many committees. He was the CEO of the Quiggleville Community Hall Association. Ray enjoyed trapping, fishing, hunting, basketball and golfing. He belonged to the Wayside golf group based in Elysburg, participated in the Trout Run Cup, and went on the annual Harder’s golf trip to Myrtle Beach.
He was related to Tom Mix, the western actor and circus show performer, and collected his memorabilia. Ray truly loved and was proud of his family.
He was a devoted husband, father, and Pa.
Surviving in addition to his wife are; a son, Chester Raymond Mix of Cogan Station; a daughter, Marsha Joyce Yrisarri (Timothy H.) of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Landon Brock Mix and Emma Christine Yrisarri; two brothers, Dale Mix (Bonny) of Paxinos and Ronald Mix (Shirley) of Canton; a sister, Leota Mix of Newark Valley, NY; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Cook of Wysox; brother-in-law, David Cook of Wysox; and a nephew and several nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be held 9-11am with a memorial service following on Thursday at Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church, 656 West Creek Road, Cogan Station, with the Rev. Jerry Fourroux, Jr. officiating. Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery, Quiggleville. A luncheon will be held at Lycoming Centre.
