Ambrose J. “Bruce” Pawlak
Ambrose J. “Bruce” Pawlak, 96, formerly of Gordon St. Duboistown, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center, Montoursville.
Born Nov. 28, 1916 in Morris Run, he was a son of Jacob and Julia (Lutomski) Pawlak.
Bruce was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, VFW #7863 DuBoistown, and a lifelong member of the Polish Club. He had worked at Armour Leather and retired from Alcan Cable. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and canning.
Surviving are his daughter Joan A. and husband Charles G. Whitehead, III of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Susan M. Whitehead of Coatesville and Brett T. (Kiersha) Whitehead of Williamsport; and two great granddaughters, Alexis and Adara Whitehead.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Margaret (Tkach) on June 29, 2003, a grandson Scott C. Whitehead in 1998; and four brothers William, Joseph, Walter, and Sylvester Pawlak, and four sisters Martha Luke, Agnes Tacka, Eleanor Warner, and Mary Pawlak.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Friday at Sanders Mortuary. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
