Vicki and Chet Herr

Lavina "Vicki" Herr

Went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2012. Lavina was born August 19, 1918 to Walter and Edna Croman in Sullivan County PA. Vicki managed the Carroll House Department Store in Williamsport for 25 years and retired in 1972.

Chester "Chet" Herr

Passed away at the age of 96 on June 22, 2012. Chester was born on February 26, 1915 to Ernest and Dannie Herr in Muncy PA. Chet worked as a General Foreman at Bethlehem Steel Wire Rope in Williamsport for 38 1/2 years and retired in 1980.

On March 27, 1937 Chet and Vicki were united in marriage. They shared most of their life together on their farm on Northway Road. They recently celebrated 75 years of marriage. Over the past several years they resided in Michigan City IN. During their years the two of them enjoyed riding snowmobile, traveling, gardening, farming and playing cards with their cherished friends. They treasured their time together and with their friends and family. They will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing them.

They are survived by one Daughter, Barbara Tawney of Laporte, IN. Vicki's sister, Mildred Warg, Chet's sister, Arlene Stiger, eight grandchildren, Kayne (Julie) Stugart of Shamokin Dam, Kelly (James) Yeagle of Montoursville, Cindy Woodruff, Joseph Tawney, Paul (Robie) Tawney, Mark Tawney, Darrell (Jen) Tawney, Dwayne (Paula) Tawney, all located throughout Indiana, ten great-grandchildren, Corey (Rianne) Woodruff, Dustin and Jason Tawney, Seth (Jessica) Neitz, Daulton Hoff, Elizabeth and Matthew Stugart, Josh and Erica Tawney, Kianna Tawney, and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by, a daughter M. Kay (Stugart) Horning, great–grandson, James Paul Hoff and Chet's brother, Gordon Herr.

Friends and family may visit from 4-5 pm, Monday at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 East Water Street Hughesville, PA. Immediately followed by a Memorial Service with Pastor Connie of Warrensville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.
