Wilbur A. Rupert

Wilbur A. Rupert, 90, of Muncy, died Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Gatehouse.
Born July 8, 1921, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Alvin and Alice Danley Rupert. He and his wife, the former Eleanor Boudman, celebrated 71 years of marriage on February 1, 2012.
Wilbur served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Andritz, Inc. after having worked there for over 35 years.
Wilbur was a member of the Moreland Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for 45 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 35, Hughesville and enjoyed hunting, shooting pool and woodworking.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Barbara Bryan of Hughesville, Dian Davis of Sugar Land, Texas and Joyce (George) Long of Unityville; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by three brothers, Harley, Harry and Floyd Rupert; and four sisters, Leona Snyder, Vera Nickles, Mamie Sewald and Ethel Allbeck.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Gregory L. Houseknecht officiating. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
