Dean J. Anderson

Dean J. Anderson, 81, a resident of Williamsport, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Sycamore Manor Health Center, Montoursville.
He was born in Williamsport on July 24, 1930 a son of Jennings R. and Martha Breasett Anderson.
Dean retired in 1995 after 21 years as a custodian at St. Ann Catholic Church and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.
He served as a volunteer for Williamsport Emergency Management Agency. He had been very involved in scouting, as a Cub Pack leader for the former Troop 35 based at St. Boniface Catholic Church and as a Boy Scout Troop leader for the former Troop 50 based at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church; he was also a recipient of the St. George award.
Dean served active duty with the PA National Guard during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Mary “Lena” Waldman, four children, Cecilia Ferguson of Jersey Shore, James J. (Donna) Anderson of Coatesville, Jeffrey S. Anderson of Williamsport, Mark A. (Pamela) Anderson of Duboistown, two grandchildren, Brad (Erin) Ferguson, Pam (Paul Jr.) Kadash, a great grandson Dylan Ferguson and a sister Alice Helm and nephew Robert Helm both of Williamsport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 635 Hepburn St. with the Rev. Shane L. Kirby officiating followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Montoursville.
The will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contribution in Dean’s name may be made to Susquehanna Health Foundation for the benefit of The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701.
