Frances Anna (Gold) Kirkner

(August 2, 1934 - January 4, 2012)

Frances G. Kirkner, 77, of Comly Road, Turbotville, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at her home.

Born August 2, 1934 in Muncy Valley Hospital, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Margaret Priestly (Russell) Gold. She was a very proud direct descendant of Joseph Priestly, Theologian and Scientist.

On February 6, 1965 she married Harold E. Kirkner and they celebrated 20 years of marriage until his death April 17, 1985.

Frances was a 1952 graduate of the former North-Mont High School, Turbotville and had taken business courses at Thompson College, Harrisburg and practical nursing courses.

Earlier in life she had worked at Philco/Ford Corp., Watsontown, the Devitt Home, and retired from Muncy Valley Hospital where she had been a nursing assistant for several years. She was also a local news reporter for the Danville News.

She was a life-long member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Turbotville where she served on the church consistory, sang in the choir, and played the piano and organ. She was a sister in The Order of Corpus Christi.

She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and Mount Pleasant Grange.

Surviving are her brother and his wife, the Rev. James H. and Eleanor P. Gold of Mifflinburg; two nephews, Stephen W. and Lori Gold, Akron, Pa.; Philip H. Gold and his companion, Alexandra of Enola; a niece, Elizabeth “Betsy” and Tom Clark, Mechanicsburg; and a companion for many years, Jeffrey L. Kuntz.

Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville and also from 10 to 11 AM Monday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Turbotville where the funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday with the Rev. James H. Gold, her brother, and the Right Rev. Ronald C. Grubb, Coadjutor Abbot of The Order of Corpus Christi, co-officiating.

Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
