Fairie Mae Walters

(June 25, 1927 - December 25, 2011)

Fairie Mae Walters, 84, of Nordmont, died Sunday, December 25, 2011, at the Geisinger Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born in Nordmont on June 25, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Mabel Little Kingson.

She attended the Nordmont one-room school and graduated from the Davidson Township High School, Class of 1944. She joined the Cadet Nurse Corp after graduation and trained at the Robert Packer School of Nursing, graduating in 1947.

She married Leslie C. Walters in 1948 and, together, they spent most of their married life in the US Air Force. Her last place of employment was the Dar-Way Nursing Home in Forksville. She was a member of the Rock Run Church and volunteered at the Sullivan County Historical Society.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1997 and is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Mike) Stavisky of Montoursville; a son, Jerry Walters of Muncy Valley; a grandson, Chad (Jodell) Lepley of Great Falls, MT; and a sister, Phyllis (Robert) Thomas of Lansdale.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Rock Run Church, Muncy Valley, with Rev. James Bechtel, her pastor, officiating. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
