Kenneth B. Sauers, 91, of Montoursville, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a result of accident related injuries.
Born July 17, 1920 in Newberry, he was a son of John and Mildred Bastian Sauers.
He attended Williamsport Area Schools and was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Ken retired from the PA Railroad after 30 years, had been a self-employed car dealer, and was part owner of Wood Whims, Montoursville. He enjoyed car racing, wood working, and was a member of the American Legion Post 104.
Surviving are his wife of 72 years Ethel E. (Fritz) Sauers, three children Joanne Golder (Harold) of Jackson, WI, William Sauers (Christine) of Montoursville, and Ronny Sauers (Janice) of Williamsport, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a brother James Sauers of Montoursville, and a sister Shirley Yaw of Loyalsock.
He was preceded in death by a son Ricky Sauers in 1954, and four siblings Ed and Clyde Sauers, Ruth Lukens, and Betty Filman.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St. Williamsport. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Sanders.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made in Ken’s name to the American Cancer Society 1948 East Third St. Williamsport, PA 17701.
