Lynn Persun

Lynn Persun, 84, of Cogan Station, died Friday, November 25, 2011, at Sycamore Manor.

Born March 31, 1927, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Clyde C. and Elsie M. McConnell Persun.

Lynn was a graduate of the Muncy High School and retired in 1986 from GTE Sylvania, Montoursville, after having worked there for over 38 years.

He was a World War II veteran who served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy.

Lynn was a member of the American Legion Post 35, Hughesville and a former member of the Plunketts Creek Vol. Fire Comp. He also enjoyed hunting and traveling.

Surviving are a son, Steven K. (Sherry) Persun of Cogan Station; a brother, Gene W. (Grace) Persun of Loganton; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lovejoy; and three great-grandchildren, William, Kaitlyn and Sophia Lovejoy.

In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Barto; a sister, Belva Cope; and two brothers, Max Persun and Chauncey Persun.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. George V. Spencer, Chaplain Sycamore Manor, officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
