Kent T. Baldwin

(March 5, 1941 - November 14, 2011)

Kent T. Baldwin, 70, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully at Rose View Center on Monday November 14, 2011 while surrounded by family and friends.

Kent was born in Newberry on March 5, 1941 the son of Howard R., Jr. and Ruth Bickell Baldwin.

Kent was a 1959 graduate of Williamsport High School, attended Susquehanna University, was a 1964 graduate of Lycoming College where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He later received his Master of Education in guidance counseling from Bloomsburg University.

Sports was a large part of his life. As a child he played in the original Carl Stoltz Little League and later served as a lifeguard and host parent during the Little League World Series. In school he played center for the Williamsport High School football team and ran track. During his professional career he coached football and track and field for Loyalsock Township High School and was a member of the South Williamsport High School coaching staff that lead the team to win the 1993 Eastern Conference Championship. More recently, he continued his love of instructing young athletes as coach of Girls on the Run, a program of Diakon Family Services.

Kent was an Eagle Scout, a recipient of The Order of the Arrow, a member of the Loyalsock Twp. Kiwanis Club. He was an active member of St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church where he served as a eucharistic minister and sang in the church’s folk group.

Kent retired from Loyalsock Twp. School District where he taught sixth grade science. He continued working after retirement as a mobile therapist for children in crisis and currently was Dean of Students at St. John Neumann Regional Academy.

His wife of 20 years, the former Anna Ganzel, died November 27, 2010.

Surviving are a daughter Heather Baldwin, son Mike (Jenn) Baldwin, Sr.; stepdaughter Theresa (Ed) Gregorowicz; two stepsons Robert (Vicky) Yates, Stephen (Dee) Kieffer; 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a sister, Kathy (Ed) Johnson and nephews Mark (Lori) Johnson and Stephen (Marie) Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday November 19, 2011 at St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport with his pastor, Msgr. Stephen D. McGough officiating.

Burial in Montoursville Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
