Born Nov. 13, 1942 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late John N. and F. Virginia (McGinness) McCarty.

Bob spent a lot of time in his later teen years working at the Mowery farm, where he met the love of his life, and on April 16, 1966 he married the former Sharon L. Mowery, who survives.

A 1961 graduate of Montgomery High School, he attended Williamsport Technical School from 1962 to 1963 where he became certified in masonry and carpentry.  His career as a toolmaker and machinist included employment by D & M Tool & Machine in Montgomery and Bachle Welding & Machine in Muncy.  He retired in 2008 from the State Correctional Institute in Muncy after 15 years.

Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Williamsport.  His passions included camping, hunting, and spending cherished time with his grandchildren and family.  He was fond of tractor pulling, traveling, and cruising.  Bob provided tent services for various events, and participated in Lyco Square Dancing.  He was a member of the West Branch Bass Club, Montgomery, and the Lost Arrow Hunting Club, Clinton Twp., and was a non-active member of the Clinton Twp. Volunteer Fire Co.

He enjoyed life to its fullest, couldn’t resist playing practical jokes on his friends, and will be remembered as the man who would always lend a helping hand.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 45 years are two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen L. and Kevin Fenstermacher of Montoursville and Kristine and Eric Gordon of Montgomery; four grandchildren, Morgan and Kylie Fenstermacher and Tony and Dylan Gordon; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Bill Terry of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Shirley and Dale Musser of Lancaster; and his mother-in-law, Esther D. Mowery of Montgomery.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.  Officiating will be Rev. Lois A. Yeagle, retired ABC pastor.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lycoming Unit American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
