Clara J. Edler

Clara J. Edler, 89, of 419 Block House Road, Trout Run, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at her home with her family at her bed side.
Born June 4, 1922 in Buttonwood, she was the daughter of Maynard and Helen Knipe Schmouder.
Clara’s husband of 41 years, Kenneth P. Edler, died December 5, 1983.
Clara was a member of the Steam Valley Bible Church. She retired from the former Weldon’s, had worked for Penn Garment and was the Laurel Hill Hunting Camps cook for several years.
Clara enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She was always helping someone in need and especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are sons, Richard P. (Judy) of Mooresville, NC, Larry K. (Sharon), Gary F. (Sandra) and Gale R. (Sally) all of Trout Run; daughters, Donna M. (Calvin) Knorr and Betty J. (Donald) Himes both of Trout Run and Cynthia L. (Michael) Detwiler of Souderton; sisters, Freda Phelps of Trout Run, Lillian Schmelzle of Niagara Falls, NY and Orvilla Thomas of South Williamsport; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Clara was predeceased by a sister, Mary Gabraith.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Avenue with Pastors Thomas W. MacAvoy and Gerald C. Peet officiating. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Steam Valley Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions may be made to the Church, 570 Route 184, Trout Run, PA 17771.
