William J. Stoetzel

(July 31, 1921 - October 7, 2011)

William J. Stoetzel, 90, of 295 Cindy Avenue, Montgomery, died Friday, October 7, 2011, at Sycamore Manor.

Born July 31, 1921 in Williamsport, he was the son of William R. and Ellen Litherland Stoetzel.

Bill and his wife, the former Betty J. Seitzer, would have observed their 69th anniversary on December 12.

Bill retired after 41 years at the former Bethlehem Steel and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a 1939 graduate of Williamsport High School.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, James W. Stoetzel of Dayton, Ohio and Gregory A. (Lisa) Stoetzel of Pasco, Wash.; a daughter, Jo Ann (Fred) Blum of Williamsport; a sister Betty Gawa of Radnor; grandchildren, Mickey (Jennifer) Locey, Robert (Carmen) Stoetzel, Stephen (Kathy) Stoetzel, Christopher Stoetzel, Jamie Stoetzel, Jeremy Stoetzel, Michael Blum, David Blum and Lisa Cortez; 10 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

Bill was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Hill.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, at Christ Episcopal Church, E. Fourth and Mulberry Streets, with The Rev. Canon Paul C. Donecker officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Bill enjoyed all animals, especially his golden retriever, Dakota, and in lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Lycoming County S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
