Helen W. Swanson, 87, of Montgomery, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at The Gatehouse Hospice following a brief illness.

Born October 10, 1923 in Scranton, she was the daughter of Thomas J. and Mary Corocan Walton.

Helen was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, loved birds and her daschund, Crissy.

Surviving are daughters, Patricia Persun of Williamsport, Kathleen Ranck and Joanne Prokop both of Montgomery and Judy Fite of Plant City, FL; sister, Margorie Howells of Scranton; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by a son, W. Raymond Swanson, Jr. and a daughter, Christine Swanson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road with Rev. Paul Fontanella officiating. Burial will be at Green Lawn Memorial Park.
