Marie L. Schelb

Marie L. Schelb of Manor Care South, formerly of Montoursville, concluded her journey in this life on Saturday, September 17 at 5 a.m. at the age of 96.
Born November 3, 1914 in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Casamira Lasoski. She was orphaned at the age of four and then resided at St. Stanislas Orphanage until the age of 16. She was married to Joseph J. Schelb on May 8, 1937. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2003 after 66 years of marriage.
Marie was a home maker throughout her life. During her earlier years she was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting and working puzzle books. She especially enjoyed tending her flower gardens.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Ed, Stanley and Chet Lasoski of Nanticoke, and two sisters; Lottie Marchak of Conshohocken, and her twin, Helen in childhood. A granddaughter, Debra Silverstrim, and great grandson, Matthew Rich also predeceased her. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Marie is survived by her children; J. Bernard of So. Williamsport, Larue of Williamsport; Constance Wetzel of Montgomery, and Lorraine Little of Millville, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 11 a.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport, with Rev. Robin Baer, pastor at St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, 1427 Memorial Ave. officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Danville at the convenience of the family.
