Willard Franklin “Bill” Potter, 87, of Plantation, Fl., died March 31, 2010.

Son of Willard and Marian (Haswell) Potter, born Dec. 24, 1922, he lived in Newberry and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1941.

During his World War II service in the Marines, he was an aircraft mechanic and crew chief in the SW Pacific, leaving with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bill organized and participated enthusiastically and proudly in many USMC reunions.

A long time employee of the City of Ft. Lauderdale, he later established his own manufacturing business there.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Louise (O’Brien) Potter and by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Jean McGargle of Danville, PA, Lois Lundy and Emily Archer of this city, and Helen Gordon of Delray Beach, Fl.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Wildwood Cemetery.
