Ashton Young, Emily R.
Emily R. Ashton Young, 89, of Williamsport died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Valley View Nursing Center where she had been residing for 3 years.
Born February 25, 1922 in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late Howard R. and Merab E. Manning Rupert.
She was a 1939 graduate of Williamsport High School and was a waitress at Henry’s Bar B-Q for 17 years.
Emily was a member of Greenview Alliance Church and the South Williamsport Senior Citizens. She enjoyed working on ceramics, sewing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her children; William (Doris) Ashton, Ronald (Tina) Ashton of South Williamsport, Marjorie (Michael) Twigg of Montoursville, step-children; John Young, Jr. of Cogan Station, Robert Young of Williamsport, Patty Brophy of Elysburg, Jane Bingaman of Montandon, two sisters Lois Baker formerly of DuBoistown, and Marjorie Carpenter of Williamsport, six grandchildren; William, Jr, David, Karen and Jason Ashton and Michael and Miranda Twigg, 7 great grandchildren, and 10 step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 37 years Robert L. Ashton, her second husband, John A. Young, a sister, Maxine McConnell , a son Charles L. Ashton, and a step grandson, Robbie Young, Jr.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Greenview Alliance Church, 1955 Warrensville Road, Montoursville. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deacon’s Benevolent Fund at Greenview Alliance Church.
