Sylvia Ann Remas

Sylvia Ann Remas, 72, of Loyalsock Twp., found rest on August 24, 2010 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport, after living with chronic illness for many years.
She was born in New Kensington, PA on September 15, 1937 daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Charlotte Coleman Preston.
Raised in Williamsport, Sylvia was a graduate of Williamsport Area High School, had worked at Sears in Williamsport and the former Northern Central Bank before moving to Taylor, PA for some 40 years. While in the Scranton area she had volunteered at the St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen. She and her husband moved back to Williamsport 6 years ago, she was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church and very active in her faith. Sylvia was a member of the Divine Providence Hospital Auxiliary.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her husband of 45 years, Michael W. Remas, daughter Judith Remas Gilliland, her husband David and granddaughter Katie Grace all of Bucks County, PA, a son R. Mark Hutchinson his wife of Florida, a granddaughter Cheryl and great grandchildren Jordan and Jessie, a sister Susan Kranz of Cogan Station, nieces and nephews.
A brother William Preston preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Church, 702 West Fourth St Williamsport with Rev. David W. Betchtel officiating with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions in Sylvia's name may be made to St. Anthony's Center, 125 E. Willow St. Williamsport, PA 17701
