Bates, Frances J.

Frances J. Bates, 80, of 2 Lafayette Street, Avis, died Friday, July 23, 2010, at Manor Care North.

Frances’s husband, Charles R. Bates Sr., died on May 9, 1982.

Frances was a member of the Jersey Shore Assembly of God Church and had worked for the Tetley Tea Company.

Born March 16, 1930 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Marks Raudabaugh.

Surviving are sons, James L. (Heidi) Bates of South Williamsport, Charles R. Bates Jr. of Camden, NJ and Timothy J. (Cindy) Bates of Laurens, SC; brothers, Robert Raudabaugh of Rauchtown; sisters, Esther Meyers of Williamsport and June Nelson of Gaithersburg, MD; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Frances was predeceased by a brother, Bruce W. Raudabaugh.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Avenue, with the Rev. Richard C. Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Eastville.
