Baker, Ruth H.

Ruth H. Baker, 85, of 115 S. Main St., Muncy, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her residence.

Born Sept. 26, 1924 in Northumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Laura (Derr) Houseknecht. She and her husband of 62 years, Robert Baker, were married on Sept. 20, 1947.

A 1942 graduate of Muncy High School, she was employed by Byerly Meats and Weis Markets, as well as, the former Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz, where she worked as a secretary, retiring in 1970.
Ruth was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church, Muncy.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandsons.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Jerry Stauffer of Muncy; and a grandson, Brent Stauffer of Ossining, NY.
In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by two brothers, one sister and a grandson, Patrick Stauffer on April 2, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Her pastor, Rev. David Culbertson, officiated. Burial was in the Muncy Cemetery.
