Bear in road causes crash

A crash occured at 11:05 p.m. June 14 when a bear entered Route 220 in Woodward Township in front of a vehicle driven by Ahmad Ahad, 37, of Lock Haven, according to state police. 

The vehicle struck the bear and pulled onto the north berm of the roadway. The deceased bear fell on the side of the roadway.

No one was injured during the crash as a result of the crash. 


State Police also reported the following incident:

12 p.m. May 7, Police reported that an unknown actor used debit card information belonging to Robin Kaiser, 39, of Hughesville, to complete and online transaction through Paypal for $479.00. 

11:45 p.m. May 24, Police reported that Jane Gallagher, 29, of Williamsport was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint on Grampian Boulevard and was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges have been filed. 

1:55 a.m. May 25, Police reported that that Michael Ficacci, 42, was stopped at a checkpoint and was found to be driving under the influence. Charges have been filed. 

11:16 a.m. June 13, Police reported that a crash occurred as a vehicle driven by Brenda Lovell, 73, of Linen, was traveling west on West Line Road when it traveled off the northern berm. The vehicle struck a utilty pole. Lovell was not injured. 

6:51 a.m. June 14, Police reported that John Thouvenot, 45, of Hughesville, created a disturbance in the Muncy Valley Hospital Emergency Room Lobby by behaving aggressively and loudly argued with Trooper Johnathan Buynak. He was also non-compliant in providing identifying information upon request to release his son to him due to an unrelated incident and became belligerent. Charges have been filed. 

3 to 10 p.m. June 14, Police reported that McDonald's received counterfeit money. Anyone with information should contact PSP Montoursville at 570-368-5700.

6 p.m. June 15, Police reported that Nicole Bergen, 31, and Brian Merrill, 42, were involved in a verbal argument when Merrill threatened to "lay out" Bergen and then hit her. Bergen then began yelling at Merrill while throwing her arms in the air in a threatening manner. No one was physically harmed during this incident Charges have been filed.
